​ Overview:  Students learn automotive basics hands-on.
Seminole Ridge Automotive Academy Mission Statement: Our mission is to engage automotive academy students in a superior blend of academic and vocational skills to ensure college and career readiness.
Seminole Ridge Automotive Academy Goals: Our goals are to:
  1. Utilize hands-on and academic instruction to provide a pathway to industry certification.
  2. Equip students to meet the needs of local employers in the field of automotive repair.
  3. Promote post-secondary education.
Admission Requirements:  
* Students must complete an academy application. Students must live in the Seminole Ridge attendance zone or be assigned to this school through another choice program.
* No minimum GPA.
* Students must complete an online academy application.  The application can be accessed on the school district’s website at http://www.mypbchoiceapp.com/site.ph​​

Employment Potential: The employment outlook of automotive service technicians and mechanics is projected to grow 9% from 2012 – 2022. Job opportunities for qualified employment seekers looks promising.

Training: The level of automotive training we offer is Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR).

Tuition: The tuition is $40 for first year automotive students and $15 for each additional year. Automotive Academy shirt and safety glasses are included in the tuition.

Instructor Qualifications: Our instructors are Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified in General Automotive, Electrical, Brakes, and Steering and Suspension (G1, A-6, A-4, and A-5).

​Industry Certification: Students have the opportunity to become industry certified in Florida Automobile Dealers Association (FADA).
​Course Sequence:
The student’s Automotive course is taken as an elective course in addition to the required core curriculum.
  • 9th grade – Automotive Level 1
  • 10th grade – Automotive Level 2
  • 11th grade – Automotive Level 3
  • 12th grade – Automotive Level 4

INTRODUCTION TO AUTOMOTIVE PRINCIPALS
  • NATEF supplemental tasks
  • NATEF tasks including Engine Repair General, Engine Repair Cylinder Head and Valve Train, and Engine Lubrication and Cooling Systems
Level 2
ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS
  • NATEF tasks electrical including General, Battery Service, Starting, Charging, Lighting, and Accessories
Level 3
SUSPENSION, STEERING SYSTEMS, AND BRAKES
  • NATEF Tasks chassis including General, Related Suspension and Steering Service, Wheel Alignment, Wheels,Tires, Hydraulic System, Drum Brakes, Disc Brakes, Power-Assist Units, Wheel Bearings, Parking Brakes, Electrical, Electronic Brakes, and Traction Stability Control Systems
Level 4
ENGINE REPAIR, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND TRANSAXLE, MANUAL DRIVE TRAIN AND AXLES, HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING, ENGINE PERFORMANCE
  • NATEF tasks Transmission General, In-Vehicle Transmission/Transaxle, Off-Vehicle Transmission and Transaxle, Clutch, Automatic and Manual Transmission/Transaxle, Drive Shaft, Half Shafts, Universal and Constant-Velocity (CV) Joints, Differential Case Assembly, HVAC General, Refrigeration System Components, HVAC Operating Systems and Related Controls, Engine Performance General, Computerized Controls, Fuel, Air Induction, Exhaust Systems, and Emissions Control Systems.

Internships:
